An In Home Services Program Provided By JJC Family Services
Family Stabilization Services (FSS)
Family Stabilization Services (FSS) is a program that works with families, living in the northwest, north and northeast sections of the city.
The families are referred to JJC by the Philadelphia Department of Human Services and Family Court. The major objective is to focus on young people, living at home with their families, to prevent an escalation of issues that may be in an early stage at the point of referral. Such problems may include truancy, housing issues or drug and alcohol problems. We aim to preserve and strengthen the family's capability to utilize community resources appropriately, so as to avoid issues becoming more difficult or problematic.
FSS social workers form a contract with families, which means that the families consent to counseling and agree to follow-through on the use of a wide range of resources and services that address the identified issues. The children are frequently visited by our social workers to ensure their health, welfare and school attendance. The counseling is usually short-term until the matters are rectified and other services, if needed, are put in place.
JJC's program is one of three providers of these in-home supportive services in the City of Philadelphia, and each day we serve about 100 families via two teams of social workers.
